He Kupu Whakataki
Introduction
Rere Aute is a quarterly printed journal exploring the histories, practices, and future of aute. Printed journal delivered in your letterbox four times a year.
Created by artist, maker, and researcher Atarangi Anderson, Rere Aute brings together research, pūrākau, studio reflections, imagery, interviews, and essays that explore the many ways aute continues to move through our lives.
Born from years of making, researching, visiting museums, listening, writing, and asking questions, Rere Aute was created as a place where those ideas could live beyond exhibitions and social media.
Each issue offers an invitation into the thinking behind the work—sharing discoveries, archival research, conversations, and reflections from the studio as part of an ongoing exploration of aute in Aotearoa and across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa.
From time to time, each issue may also include a small offering from the studio, carefully chosen to accompany the stories held within its pages.
Rere Aute is dedicated to the movement of knowledge through aute.
